Join Sada Simran and Wayne Marto for an intensive 2-Days Course to create a basic understanding Gong principals and to establish a personal experience with GONG… taught by two of the Northwest’s most coveted Gong Teachers!

The “Practicum of GONG” course will be limited to 30 students/2 students per Gong, so purchase your tickets early.

Join us for this special hands-on experience. Become an accomplished Gong practitioner by learning the basics of playing the Gong. Experience firsthand the various sizes and different planetary Gongs. Advance your gong playing skills and have a profound healing gong experience! We will have at least 16 Gongs on site and a staff of experienced Gong players to support your experience.

Master teachers Wayne Marto and Sada Simran will explore with you the many uses of Gong in meditation, therapy, and relaxation. Quality time will be reserved for your personal playing under the tutelage of our master teachers. Wayne and Sada Simran will share with you the role of intuition and meditation in Gong playing, and how to create the full experience of the Gong sound, using rhythm, volume, and various playing patterns. You will have an opportunity to play various sizes and different planetary gongs and experience first-hand the techniques discussed in class.

Level 1 – Foundations

  • THE USE AND SCIENCE OF THE GONG/THE PHILOSOPHY OF GONG PLAYING

  • THE INNER APPROACH/CONNECTING TO THE GONG

  • HEALING QUALITIES OF THE GONG

  • PLAYING POSITIONS AND HOLDING THE MALLET

  • HOW TO STRIKE THE GONG/VARIOUS PLAYING AREAS OF THE GONG/THE 14 PERCUSSION POINTS

  • BASIC PLAYING SEQUENCES AND RHYTHMS

Practicum of Gong Level I – Foundations: This course is open to all and provides enough information and training for a lifetime of playing enjoyment. For those students wishing to become certified, this class is a prerequisite to Practicum of Gong Level II – Competence offered in the fall.

Practicum of Gong Level II – Competence: This course builds upon Level I FOUNDATIONS (basics). Level II will elevate the skill level of the player as well as develop an intuitive competence with the Gong. Upon completion of Level II, each student will receive a Gong Practitioner Certification issued through Beneficial Sound and Guru Gayatri. After completing Practicum of Gong Level I & II students can apply for the master class, Practicum of Gong Level III – Transcendence.

Practicum of Gong Level III – Transcendence: Advanced certification class. This course is individually designed to deepen one’s understanding of the Gong experience, so practitioners can deliver a truly transformative experience in a variety of settings. Upon completion of the course and practicum, a Gong Mastery Certificate will be issued.

MASTER CERTIFICATE STUDENTS WILL BE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SOUND HEALING CLASSES OFFERED BY BENEFICIAL SOUND AT CANCER CENTERS IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. STUDENTS ARE ALSO ELIGIBLE FOR 4 HOURS OF CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS ISSUED BY THE YOGA ALLIANCE FOR EACH OF THE THREE PRACTICUM OF GONG LEVELS.

This course is excellent for teachers wanting to integrate the Gong into their classes or anyone interested in learning more about this powerful and transformational instrument. No previous musical training or experience with Gong is required. These workshops are open to everyone. If you already own a Gong, please feel free to bring it with you, as you can share it with others, and learn more for yourself about your Gong.

Our workshop will be interspersed with light Kundalini Yoga and then onto learning the Gong! We will cover how to structure and deliver a successful Gong class, understanding the necessary steps to deliver a full Gong experience to your students and clients. Each all-day workshop will conclude with an extended Gong Immersion for your enjoyment.

In the Fall of 2020 we will be presenting “Practicum of GONG Level II –  Competence”. This follow-up course is designed to further develop the skills of the practitioner. Upon completion of Level II, each student will receive a Gong Practitioner Certification issued through Beneficial Sound and Guru Gayatri.

Lead Teachers

Wayne Marto is a life-long musician who has studied the gong extensively under Kundalini Gong Master Mehtab Benton. His authentic style of playing, infused with passion and intention, promotes deep relaxation and transformation. Wayne is the Founder and Executive Director of Beneficial Sound, a 501(c)3 public charity committed to bringing wellness to the mind, body and soul through sound and vibration. He has a degree in Psychology, is a Certified Gong Practitioner and is a member of the American Sound Healers Association.

Sada Simran
 learned the Gong directly from Yogi Bhajan with whom he studied with for over 35 years. Before moving to Seattle in 2007, he was acting director of Yoga West in Los Angeles, Yogi Bhajan’s home studio. He brings to his classes insights into the nature of consciousness and inspires his students to go beyond their perceived limitations. Sada Simran and his wife Cindi founded and currently run the Guru Gayatri Kundalini Yoga and Meditation Center a 501©3 non-profit organization.

Our Lead Teachers will be supported by Support Trainers, Jim McCall and Roger Tjoelker.
